Gaps in your smile don’t have to be a fact of life.

At Marton Dental Practice, we provide low-hassle and life-changing treatment to give you a full mouth of teeth and the confidence to smile again.

Replacing missing teeth is one of the most incredible things you can do for your general well-being. Gaps in your smile can cause a multitude of problems, including causing neighbouring teeth to shift, an increased risk of gum disease, and even stress on your TMJ jaw joint.

The good news is, there is more than one way of addressing tooth loss.

What we offer alongside the missing teeth treatment

We offer free consultations with our dedicated Treatment Coordinator, allowing patients to find out more about us, how we do dentistry, and how we can help. We can also offer virtual consultations should you prefer this.

We offer 0% finance on treatments, including those for missing teeth, helping you to spread the cost of your treatment as you see fit. We don’t think that cost should ever stand in the way of wanting to better your oral health and well-being.

Unlike many other practices, our finance options extend beyond the traditional 12 months.

Dental bridges

If one or more teeth are missing on one side of the mouth, a dental bridge can create a bridge to fill the gap. A dental bridge uses bespoke crowns on one or both sides of the gap, which are affixed to healthy (supporting) teeth. In some cases, your dentist can place a small metal wing to secure the false tooth in the gap.

Once in place, your dental bridge is a fixed treatment that only your dentist can remove during examinations.

Dentures

Dentures are a removable set of false teeth that have long been a popular option for patients with a high number of missing teeth. Dentures also provide a solution for patients who aren’t suitable for a dental bridge (this is usually when the teeth on either side of the gap are not healthy enough to support the bridge).

Dental implants

Dental implants are a fixed and biocompatible remedy for tooth loss. Whilst we don’t currently offer implants, we work with trusted implant referral centres who can provide this treatment for you.

Our referral colleagues are experienced implant dentists who work with a high degree of diligence and care to deliver long-term, successful outcomes of 95%+ with implants.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are my options for replacing a missing tooth?

There are three realistic options: a dental implant, which replaces the root as well as the tooth and stands on its own; a bridge, which is fixed but uses the neighbouring teeth for support; or a denture, which is removable and the least expensive. Which one suits you depends on the gap, your bone, your gums and your budget - and we'll be straight with you about the trade-offs.

What happens if I just leave the gap?

Teeth drift into a space over time, and the tooth opposite can over-erupt because it has nothing to bite against. That changes your bite, makes cleaning harder, and can complicate replacing the tooth later. The bone where the root used to be also shrinks away gradually, which matters if you might want an implant down the line.

How long can I leave it before deciding?

There's no cliff edge, but the sooner you decide the more options you keep open. If you know an implant is something you'd want eventually, it's worth telling us early, because bone can be preserved at the time the tooth comes out rather than rebuilt expensively later.

How much does it cost to replace a tooth?

Single implants start from £2,995 and bridges and dentures cost less. We'll give you written costs for each option that suits you so you can compare them properly. Treatment from £400 upwards can be spread over 12 months at 0% interest through Tabeo, with no deposit needed to start.

Will I be left with a gap while it's being sorted?

In almost every case, no. We can provide a temporary tooth while an implant heals or while a bridge is being made, so you don't walk around with a visible gap. If the missing tooth is at the front, tell us - it changes how we plan the sequence.

How do I find out which option is right for me?

Book a free consultation with Jody, our treatment co-ordinator. She'll spend 45 minutes going through what's possible, take a scan so you can see your own mouth on screen, and give you indicative costs for each route before you commit to anything.
